Stereoid Light
A streamlined stereo upmixer, imager, and enhancer – the essential Stereoid sound with
minimal controls.

Stereoid puts your stereo on steroids with a versatile upmixing, imaging, and enhancement engine designed to create wider, fuller mono and stereo tracks while preserving mono compatibility.
Its processing combines timbrally adjustable decorrelation, microtonal detuning, delay, and tube-style saturation. Each element can be finely controlled, from subtle and transparent stereo enhancement to more creative treatments that add movement, depth, and character to vocals, lead instruments, guitars, and full mixes.
Stereoid Light belongs to the SMARTLINE range: focused plugins that combine powerful DSP with direct, intuitive controls.

Stereoid draws on psychoacoustic principles—the mechanisms through which we perceive sound—to create a wide and enveloping stereo image. Its processing combines temporal decorrelation, the Haas effect, and microtonal detuning.
Temporal decorrelation reduces the similarity between signals over time. Starting from a mono source, it generates related signals that retain the character of the original while exhibiting different perceptual properties.
When a signal and a slightly delayed version of it reach the listener within a short time interval, they are perceived as a single, wider sound rather than as two distinct events. This psychoacoustic phenomenon is commonly associated with the Haas effect.
However, conventional delay-based stereo widening can introduce phase cancellation and mono-compatibility problems. The Stereoid algorithm is specifically designed to avoid these issues while preserving full mono compatibility.
Stereoid’s flexible decorrelation algorithm provides a broad tonal palette. The Color control ranges from a carefully tuned, spectrally transparent response to more characterful and creatively colored settings.
The transparent setting preserves the spectral character of the original source, making it particularly suitable for stereo mastering. More colored settings can instead add a distinctive character to individual instruments and complete mixes, and are especially effective on electric guitars.

The Delay control adds depth and spaciousness to the stereo image.
The Centre control reduces low-frequency content in the processed signal and focuses the widening effect on the higher frequencies, preserving a tight, punchy low end.
The Color control ranges from a spectrally transparent response to more colored and creative settings.
The Shift control adjusts the microtonal detuning of the processed signal, adding stereo width and movement by blending a subtly detuned version with the original.
The Drive control adds tube-style saturation, warmth, and harmonic character.
SMARTLINE plugins combine advanced DSP algorithms with intuitive, user-centered interfaces. Each plugin provides clear controls, immediate visual feedback, and a streamlined workflow, making sophisticated processing easy to access and use.
